  • Have you ever wondered what is the manufacturing process of the delicious chocolate bar you eat? Did you know that cocoa grows in a pod and the grains melt into sweet layer?

The ChocoMuseo is another great place to go while visiting La Fortuna de San Carlos. In the ChocoMuseo  you can learn the history and process of the cocoa completely for FREE. Visitors may learn about the history of cacao, how cacao grows, and how chocolate is made. This interesting place has its own artisan chocolate factory which makes chocolate from organic Costa Rican cacao beans. The museum also offers workshops of approximately two hours in duration in which participants get to make their own chocolate, as well as day tours to a nearby cacao plantation. All of the products that you will see here are 100% artisan made with organic cocoa from Native Costa Rican producers of the north area of the country. There is also a shop and cafeteria where you can try and purchase their products.
