The historic, cultural, artistic and natural wealth of the San Ramon canton, in Alajuela, is housed in a building that, despite its 133 years, boasts of its fresh look.
This museum is a space belonging to the University of Costa Rica in the only building of the nineteenth century that is maintained in the city, this institution aims to rescue and value the cultural heritage with an articulated and constant work around four major areas: heritage cultural, natural history, plastic arts and literature. Take action to rescue study and disseminate the cultural and natural heritage of the region, in order to preserve the legacy of the community. Permanently integrates the community in the processes of revaluation of its heritage, to strengthen its collective identity and fosters the research processes of heritage assets – tangible and intangible – of the community. It has heritage collections of historical objects and valuable documents, diverse spaces that converge in harmony and are part of a project devoted to rescue of traditions and preservation of heritage.
