  • Located in the north of Costa Rica, Tenorio Volcano National Park is one of the youngest in the country. It is located between the cantons of Guatuso and Upala de Alajuela, Cañas, Bagaces and Tilarán of the Province of Guanacaste. This area is located in the Volcanic Mountain Range of Guanacaste. Taking its name from Tenorio Volcano, this national park has stunning views of the river and a great number of opportunities to venture out with wildlife. The park was created in 1995 to protect the Tenorio Volcano, which is active today. The park has four different life zones, as well as its beautiful turquoise waters of its famous Río Celeste. This park is considered one of the best kept secrets in Costa Rica, as well as one of the places to go on excursions. Among the biggest attractions of the place, is the waterfall of the Celeste River, the famous Celeste River, the panoramic views, collapsed fumaroles, hot springs and hot springs streams within the forest, nature trails, wildlife sightings and particularly calls the attention the place where the river takes its celestial color called the Teñideros. It is also has a natural path called “Misterios del Tenorio”, with a distance of 3,000 meters and an approximate duration of three hours.
