Nosara Wildlife Sanctuary at SIBU, founded by Vicky Coan, set on 50 glorious acres of jungle and garden serves as a care and rehabilitation facility and a “step down release center” for the reintroduction of animals back into the jungles. Large habitats also serve to house life term animals that cannot be released due to handicap or humanization due to pet trade. SIBU’s mission is to rescue injured, orphaned, and displaced wild animals and provide them immediate medical care, rehabilitation, and eventual release into the wild. When the animals are determined to be strong, healthy and old enough to be re-integrated into the jungle they begin a step-down release program.
Reservations are absolutely required to visit this wildlife sanctuary, the educational visits included some time with primates, as well as guided tour of the grounds. The fee supports the good work of this private center. SIBU Wildlife Sanctuary is a non-profit organization that receives no government funding, that is why they rely solely on donations and visitors.
