  • The Tapantí National Park is a nature reserve that is located in the La Amistad – Pacífico Conservation Area. It is located about 15km southeast of the town of Orosi and was created in 1982. Tapantí area is one of the most rainy places in the world and, together with its steep topography, makes possible the presence of over hundred and fifty rivers. The Grande de Orosí river, along with its numerous tributaries, stands out among them.  The Tapantí National Park is a place for those who like genuine contact with nature, has four trails of different levels of difficulty (from low to high), in three of which there are facilities such as ranches with grills, bathrooms and drinking water. In them it is possible to enjoy bird watching, exercise, breathe fresh air and bathe in the crystal clear waters of the Río Grande de Orosi.  In La Esperanza area there is a path of low difficulty in which the visitor can appreciate the beauty of a forest of centenary oaks. At the entrance of both areas, the admission fee is charged and information about the trails is provided and the corresponding signage is located in the area to facilitate s self-guided experience. If you go with the whole family, it is advisable to follow the path that passes by the river, the reason for this is not only the beauty of the landscape, but also being a simple way, it has several small ranches where you can picnic, so if you take a whole basket of food, there will be more than one place where you can taste it at your pleasure. Another great attraction is the possibility of bathing in different pools of water, some even have small waterfalls that will make the experience much more exotic or paradisaical.

In the park it is possible to volunteer, research and environmental education, through compliance with the requirements established for such purposes.
