  • With a stunning diversity of flora and fauna, the gorgeous Parque Nacional Piedras Blancas is a significant natural reserve and wildlife refuge located in the Golfito sector, with an extension of about 14,750 terrestrial hectares and 1,200 marinas, created with the intention of protecting the last piece of tropical rain forest in Golfito. It is one of the wettest and rainiest places in Costa Rica. This Park presents an exclusive experience for those who visit it. Together with Corcovado, they form the Ecological Arc of Golfo Dulce. Due to the humidity and its hot climate this park has a lot of rain which makes it stay green and splendid all year round. There are hundreds of plants, animals and rare insect species found in the forest, as well as a large number of snakes and other reptiles. However, not everyone knows each other since the studies in the park are just being done. Some of the most common birds and animals found here include the Howler Monkey, the Nose-White Capuchin, the Toucan, and the Hawk. Considered by many to be the best park in the country for bird watching, the Parque Nacional Piedras Blancas is an important meeting point for many birds from North and South America. Snakes and frogs abound as well.
