  • Costa Rica is a small corner full of abundant natural beauty. In just 51,000 square kilometers, we accumulate 5% of the planet’s biodiversity, so it is not surprising that each treetop there is a bird to admire, especially if we know that Costa Rica is one of the few countries with more than 900 species of birds. The NATUWA Santuario de Lapas is an excellent option to go out and contemplate Costa Rica through its natural wealth and an ideal option if you are looking for a place to go for a walk with your family or your partner. It is undoubtedly an attraction for the little ones in the house and for animal lovers. It is located in Miramar in the province of Puntarenas specifically in Aranjuez town. For more than 18 years NATUWA has dedicated itself to the creation of a place that provides refuge and protection to wildlife that cannot return to its natural environment. Many are vulnerable species and also victims of actions caused by man, such as hunting, cutting down trees and even extracting their own habitat, which is why, here, they are holding out a hand. The duration of the tour is about an hour and thirty minutes and among the animals you can see are: White Cacatua, African Gray Parrot, Hyacinth Macaw, Jaguar, Manigordo, marmoset, monkeys, white-tailed deer and of course the different types of limpets. This Sanctuary is strategically located in a remote area, quiet and far from the noise of the roads. Thanks to this, it provides refuge and protection to the wild animals of the area, they enjoy a true oasis, covered with vegetation that produces food, water and places to shelter away from hunters. In addition, NATUWA has a land of 15 hectares; where the necessary activities are given that allow the development of the objectives for which the Wildlife Sanctuary of Costa Rica was created. It is a really interesting visit that you can combine with other activities in Puntarenas area.
