  • Chirripó National Park is shared among the provinces of Limón, San José and Cartago. It is located south of the Capital San José. Cerro Chirripó is part of the Talamanca Mountain range, and it is one of the most exciting tours to do in Costa Rica. The beauty and diversity of Chirripó will leave you with a great feeling of achievement.  The Chirripó hill is located the highest mountain in the country, with 3,820 meters above sea level. It encompasses 124,000 acres of Costa Rica cloud forest, swamps, glacier, lakes, fern groves and grasslands.  It has areas of great scenic beauty and geological and ecological importance. In the upper part of the park there are 5 areas of great geological, biological and landscape beauty: the Sabana de los Leones, the Valle de los Conejos, Cerro Chirripó, the Valle de las Morenas and the Valle de los Lagos.  Other than the challenge of summiting the mountain, there are many opportunities to enjoy trails through a variety of ecological zones and the wildlife is varied. Because of its altitude, the flora and fauna change drastically. During rainy season, there is sometimes snow on the summit. On clear days it is possible to see both oceans Pacific, and Atlantic over Guanacaste and way beyond the Costa Rican borders.
