When you come to see Alexander Skutch Biological corridor at the Tropical Scientific Center, you will find not only a tremendous forest full of amazing birds but also incredible enterprising people, simple, and the most important thing, everything they do, they do it with passion.

    In order to protect Dr. Skutch’s lifelong effort to conserve nature and to give all creatures a chance to survive, the Center has turned Los Cusingos into a santuary of birds. Currently, the sanctuary covers an area of 72 hectares and is located in Quizarrá, Pérez Zeledón, only 30 minutes from San Isidro del General.

    Visits to Los Cusingos are resctricted and authorized by appointment only. Admission is limited to researchers, naturalists, ornithopiles and students in order to ensure the protection of the reserva and its wildlife. However, if you are just a birds’ lover, you can also contact the Center and make an appoitment, The fees start at $6 for nationals and $17 for foreigners.
