  • The Museo de los Niños is the only 100% interactive museum in Costa Rica and is one of the best-known projects of the Costa Rican Center for Science and Culture. There, you can discover three emblematic buildings at the same time: the National Auditorium, the National Gallery and the Children´s Museum, a space dedicated to family enjoyment of science and culture. It is an approximate area of 3,804m2, where multiple activities and exhibitions are concentrated, especially aimed at children and their families. Although by its name it was defined as museum, in reality it does not obey the traditional museographic principles of seeing and not touching. On the contrary, it is based on the concepts of play in learning, creativity, spontaneity and freedom to express oneself, social interaction and curiosity, among others. Its main objective is to contribute to the formation of critical, dynamic, creative and participatory human beings, through the implementation of complementary activities to formal education. It has more than 40 interactive rooms where children and families in general can learn diversity of topics, including the human body, the solar system, space technology, the history of Costa Rica, oral health, savings, accident prevention, forest animals, radio and television production, archeology, transportation, importance of water, farm animals, aviation, importance of reading, music, ancient Egypt, recycling, electricity, the importance of coffee and bananas for Costa Rica, among many other topics.
