The Braulio Carrillo National Park is one of the largest protected areas in Costa Rica with 50,000 hectares and is located in one of the areas with the steepest topography in the country. The landscape is made up of high mountains densely covered with forests and a great quantity of canyons through which rivers and streams of great importance run in the production of hydroelectric energy. This National Park has two sectors of public use: Quebrada Gónzalez and Barva Volcano which provide facilities for visitors. The Ceibo Sector is dedicated to protection and research. In it you will find high mountains covered with dense and lush forests as well as innumerable rivers forming beautiful waterfalls. It is a place of special interest for the observation of plant species, in which you will also find an interesting fauna, specially birds in their natural habitat. The Braulio Carrillo National Park, Quebrada González sector, is also one of the biggest and easy access national parks with paths consumed in an eternally green jungle with flora and fauna. To get there you have to take 32 route towards Guápiles. The total walking distance is 3 kilometers. The fee starts at $2 fro nationals and non residents at $12, and there is option for camping only in the Sector Barva.
